The Grand Pacific body shape produces broad, overlapping notes that blend to create a unified harmonythe sound is microphone-friendly, and well-suited to flatpickers, strummers and fingerstyle players. The back and sides are made of walnut, which is known for its bright tone, tight low end and dynamic sustain. The AD17es sound is amplified by the Taylor Expression System 2 (ES2) electronicsthe heart of which is a patented behind-the-saddle pickup with three uniquely positioned and individually calibrated pickup sensors. Because the pickup doesn't sit under the saddle, the bottom of the saddle comes in full contact with the bridge, allowing all the nuance of the guitar's tone to come through clearly, whether playing acoustically or plugged-in.
